TideHunter: Deep-Sea Survival Adventure Game
TideHunter is an underwater action-adventure platformer built using HTML5 Canvas and vanilla JavaScript, offering players a thrilling survival experience in the ocean’s depths. You play as a professional deep-sea diver navigating through five increasingly dangerous underwater environments, collecting coins and oxygen tanks while avoiding hostile sea creatures and managing limited oxygen.
The game features realistic underwater physics, including water resistance and buoyancy, alongside a harpoon weapon system for combat. Players must master swimming controls (WASD or arrow keys) and use abilities like boosts and power-ups (e.g., fast swim, energy shield, and multi-shot) to survive.
Each level introduces a new biome, from tropical reefs and kelp forests to volcanic trenches and the bioluminescent abyss. As players descend, challenges intensify with environmental hazards, aggressive enemies like sharks and electric eels, and diminishing oxygen supplies. Collecting oxygen tanks is essential, as survival hinges on careful oxygen and time management.
The combat system pits players against six distinct sea creatures, each with unique behaviors and threat levels. Combat earns points, as does collecting coins, power-ups, and hidden bonus gems. The scoring system rewards efficiency, enemy defeats, and level completion speed.
TideHunter features a dynamic camera, real-time physics, smooth 60fps rendering, and visually engaging particle effects such as bubbles and caustic lighting. Its responsive keyboard-based controls ensure smooth gameplay across all major browsers.
Winning requires clearing all five levels, collecting every coin, surviving oxygen depletion, and defeating or evading marine threats. With its blend of exploration, platforming, and resource management, TideHunter delivers a unique and engaging underwater adventure.
